The scene of the earlier bus crash has been cleared and the road is NOW OPEN to traffic.
N3TC extends its gratitude to all road users for their patience and understanding, and to the various route incident management system teams who have assisted at the scene.

Southbound fast lane REOPENED| 12 October 2021 @ 15H20
The southbound fast lane in the vicinity of Tugela River has now been reopened to traffic following this afternoon’s serious crash.
The SLOW LANE remains CLOSED while recovery operations continue.
Road users are advised to please approach the area with caution and to continue to be patient while the scene is being cleared.

Southbound carriageway currently CLOSED to traffic| 12 October 2021
A serious single vehicle bus crash occurred on the N3 Toll Route in the vicinity of Tugela River at around the midday today. The bus was travelling northbound, towards Gauteng, when the driver crossed the median and overturned off the road.
Regrettably multiple fatalities and serious injuries were reported. All emergency services are currently on scene. The SOUTHBOUND LANES, at the scene of the crash, are NOW CLOSED.
Road users are advised to expect traffic delays in the vicinity of the crash.
